Ya more reviews! Thanks Shelly. Hey let me share this with your listeners or should I say readers...

My wife purchased me a $50 gift card for Christmas for the sole intention of buying apps for my iPhone. It was only after I had redeemed the card and tried to purchase apps with the card I discovered I couldn't and that iTunes was still billing my credit card for said applications. After further digging - terms and conditions, forums, etc. we realized that apps could not be purchased on an iTunes card in Canada due to some "law". I understand this is not an issue in the United States and apps can be purchased with gift cards.

If this is the case iTunes needs to be accountable and notify their customers better. No where on the iTunes gift card did it state that the card would NOT be valid on apps. All it says is "for music and more". This, in my opinion, is not acceptable. Even when you key in the redemption code there is NOTHING that states that the card is only valid for x, y and z. It requires extensive digging on the customers part to find out why the card does not work.

I now have a $50 credit on my account that I am unlikely to use because I do not purchase music. I cannot get a refund because of the "terms and conditions", I cannot buy the applications as was intended because of the "terms and conditions" yet iTunes has received their $50 and I do not have my gift for what it was intended.

Apple and iTunes as a company needs to be more accountable to it's customers. I am a shareholder of Apple stock and this whole situation infuriates me.

I would find it acceptable if you would be willing to transfer the credit to my wife's account, however I believe this is another "term of condition" of the contract and would not be allowed.

We would like to know what Apple is going to do to stop this happening in the future and what you are willing to do to satisfy your customers, who have whole heartedly supported you in the past.

Sincerely,
Rod and Chrystal C

That is a fine idea and I will check that out. They might get me for plugging my show in those reviews, but then again, they might not mind. Thanks as always for the comments.

Too lazy to check for myself, but do you also add these reviews to iTunes reviews with a link to this site for more info? Might be a consideration if iTunes allows links in the reviews on their site. It may dramatically increase traffic to your fantastic podcast. It may also get you solicitations from app vendors to review their product for them (free apps to review!). Keep up the great work.
Cheers!

Thanks for the iTV review. Seems like a very fair review to me. Well, perhaps a 1/2 star lower than I would have expected, but fair non-the-less.

Check out Linkshare. You can sign up as an iTunes affiliate and create your own custom links to the apps. I'm not sure what your cut would be, but it may be worth looking into.

I'll look at iTV. I want to do comparisons, and I probably will once I get more into a rhythm. Thanks for listening, sir. I'm always happy to have more suggestions.

I agree this is a great app. A few other apps that I find very interesting/useful that you may consider for review are "Klick" for Flickr "Twinkle" for Twitter and "Fring" for IM-ing and Skype and "Simplify" to stream Audio from you and your friends iTunes library thru the web to your iPhone or Touch. Internet access and an account required for "Simplify" to work.

I'm off to click some of the ads on your site to help sponsor you... All the best. Cheers!

Shelly, loving the new Podcast and App reviews. I have a FREE app called iTV that does everything this app does by the sounds of it. However iTV is a free app... I was wondering, when reviewing apps, if you could compare apps to similar apps when possible or if you review iTV in the future compare it to the review you gave this app. The only thing I am not sure iTV does is allow profiles or easy switching between accounts (which needs to be set up if you want to maintain a favorites folder) I guess I should do more reviewing myself BEFORE writing comments... I will work on that for the future. iTV does however include Movies and Theaters which is also nice.

Keep up the great work.

I won't be using the Elections application since I'm not able to participate in the election, but it seems that including a basic search function should have been one of, if not, the first features developed.

I too use the Mocha VNC lite and find it very useful as you suggest, over my internal wireless network. I have used it to connect home from the outside world, but I find that relying on Internet speed to be less than acceptable.

I too enjoy 21 Pro Blackjack. My biggest issue is that unless you can connect to the internet to download the ad pop up information, the application is not playable. This is a huge disappointment since I do find the animations, sounds and game play very realistic.

Even better show Shelly. I really look forward to your reviews.

First comment!

Great show shelly. I will be testing out NetNewsWire based on your recommendation. I haven't found anything that I like for reading feeds yet, I'm hopeful that this will be my panecea...or pancreas ...or something..

I have used UrbanSpoon and I like the shaking business to mix things up.

I look forward to more app reviews!

Congrats on a great show #1!
